Bruce H. Koffler, MD
Dr. Bruce H. Koffler, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmic surgeon who completed his training in Cornea and External Disease at the Georgetown University Center for Sight in Washington, D.C. in 1979. Dr. Koffler served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and the Director of the Corneal and External Disease services at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine from 1979 to 1987. During his tenure, he developed the University of Kentucky Lions Eye Bank in 1980 and served as its Medical Director from 1981 to 1987.
Currently, Dr. Koffler is an Associate Clinical Professor and is the Founder and Medical Director of Koffler Vision Group. Dr. Koffler continues his ophthalmic research and has presented numerous scientific papers at international, national, state and local professional meetings including the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, the Annual Meeting of the Association of Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists Annual Meeting, the European Contact Lens Society Meeting, the Brazilian Ophthalmology Society Meeting (SOBLEC), the Japanese Contact Lens Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), and the International Congress of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Koffler's scientific papers have appeared in various professional journals such as Archives of Ophthalmology, CLAO Journal, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Refractive Surgery and Ocular Surface.
Dr. Koffler has held many leadership positions in various professional organizations. He served as President of the Kentucky Academy and Lexington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and has previously served as the Chief of Staff of Humana Hospital-Lexington. Dr. Koffler has served two consecutive terms of office on the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologist’s Executive Board. In 1999, he was elected as Chairman of Finance and Audit. He served as the President of CLAO in 2002.
Dr. Koffler has been a long time community activist serving on the Lexington Child Development Center Board of Directors, creating their ophthalmic consultation program. He has been a member of the Lexington Lion Club since 1981, and in 1985 helped to establish the Lexington Lions Club Endowment. In 1999, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation.

He was one of the first surgeons in Central Kentucky to perform LASIK, AK, PK, Radial Keratotomy, and DSEK. He has performed over ten thousand such procedures in his 25-plus years of practicing corneal surgery. In 2008 Dr. Koffler was voted one of the Best Doctors in America by his peers.
